Sustainably and Responsibly Made Jute and Linen Fabrics

£20.00

These fabrics are made by Madras Fuse, a social enterprise in India that is dedicated to supporting previously abused and trafficked women. Proceeds from sale of these fabrics go to that cause. These fabrics are all sourced from local artisans in India, all fabrics are sourced responsibly. Linen is made using the flax plant, which is one of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly plants used to make a textile material. Flax is very resilient and can be grown in poor soil therefore reducing the need for water and it also requires less pesticides. Jute is another type of plant that is very sustainable since it is hardy and requires far less water or pesticides. Both flax and jute by the very nature of how they are grown are far more sustainable and eco friendly compared to inorganic cotton (the cotton most people still use).

These are tougher fabrics perfect for upholstery and for use on furniture. These are just some example images. And more images can be provided. Different patterns and colours can be used. All are customisable. However, feel free to experiment with using these fabrics however you choose, samples can be provided so you can get a feel for them before using.
